There’s a wolf in the forest of echoes and trees,
that dashes through branches and dances through breeze,
that stares into solace and howls in peace.
Strong and free,
knowing he
is a wolf.

There’s a wolf in the heart of a child I’ve known,
who’s too shy and too loud and too small and too grown,
and feels nothing but joy, though completely alone.
Strong and free,
knowing he
is a wolf.

There’s a wolf in the girl who can glare at the glass.
Though it shatters from shame at her sickening past,
she finds light in the shadows her scars harshly cast.
Strong and free,
knowing she
is a wolf.

There’s a wolf in us all, as we run and we fall,
as we fear and are feared, though fear is nothing at all.
We live to feel big but it is when we are small that
we are free,
knowing we
can be wolves.
