Girls Golf placed first in the Pacific Coast League after winning against Woodbridge in their last game with a score of 188-203. “It feels amazing.” Coach Kevin Kasper (Science Dept.) said. “I think the girls are really pleased.”

The lowest score of the game was a 35 shot by Dana Choi (So.) “I’m happy that I ended the season well,” Choi said. “This was my best score. I’ve improved a lot and I’d like to thank my teammates for motivating me to do better. It’s been a great season.”

Other low scorers include Nodoka Honda (So.) who shot a 36, and Coco Yang (Fr.) who shot a 38. “It was good, but I have to improve my short game,” Yang said. Additionally, Yang feels she could change her chipping and putting, two types of shots in golf, in order to improve.

Players Honda, Choi, Kristin Shea (Jr.) and Samantha Cabunag (Jr.) have qualified as individuals and will compete on October 25.

UHS has not lost to Woodbridge in the recent years. Because of this, the team felt prepared and confident about this game.

Girls Golf has qualified for CIF as a team and will compete in the Team Division Championships on October 31. If they score top three, then they will qualify for the Southern Section Championships, on November 3 at Western Hills Country Club. “We achieved one of our main goals by winning the Pacific Coast League championship… with that experience, we hope to take first this year” Kasper said. Last year the team finished in third place.
