Girls Varsity Water Polo lost 1-19 against Corona del Mar High School on Wednesday, February 1. The team is currently placed last at 1-7-0 in the Pacific Coast League.
The Trojans stayed strong and motivated throughout the game even though the score was down. “I think they did well on playing our hardest even though they were up against a very formidable opponent,” Coach Hurley (Science Dept.) said. “I’m proud that they stayed positive and worked hard throughout the whole game.”
In the past, CdM has been a difficult team to defeat. Despite this challenge, the team was able to persevere. “We met our goal to keep them under 20 points,” player Jasmine Choi (So.) said.“Our last game against CDM was 25-2 so it’s a big improvement. Even though I was injured and on the bench, I saw how hard the team was working.”
Co-captain Gauvri Nathwani (Sr.) described what the team plans to work on in the future. “We need to stop letting them get counter attacks,” Nathwani said. “We met our goal for the game so that was pretty good. In the fourth quarter we had some really good defense, but our counter defense needs some more work.”
Girls Water Polo will face off against Woodbridge High School in their last league game of the season next Thursday, February 9.
