Girls Lacrosse defeated Northwood High School with a score of 18-5 on Wednesday, April 11.
Senior Nicole Ramsy reflects on the game. “The game against Northwood was one of our first games after spring break, so we were still trying to get back into our rhythm,” Ramsy said. “We suffered a loss against Beckman in the sweltering heat on Monday, so the game was our chance to get a win and boost team morale a little bit. We won possession on virtually every draw, setting us up for domination on the attacking side of the field and allowing almost every attacker to have an opportunity to shoot and score.”
Ramsy identifies areas of improvement personally and for the team as well. “Personally, I still have a lot to improve on, especially in terms of communicating with my fellow defenders. I also think I can be more aggressive on the ground balls. Overall, I’m gearing up to play my best during the last two weeks of season. Next game I hope to, again, be more aggressive on the ground balls, communicate with my defenders better, and maneuver myself to be more of a passing possibility to my teammates. As a team, I definitely think we need to sharpen our skills coming off of spring break. Although we technically dominated the field, we still had too many dropped balls and sloppy passes.”
Senior Captain Olivia Holmes agrees with Ramsy’s characterization of the game. “I will work on my stamina and defending skills so I can better help the defensive side of my team,” Holmes said. “As a team, I hope to improve on finishing as many of our goal-scoring chances as we can, and also we need to work on keeping possession of the ball.”
Ramsy feels confident regarding CIFs. “We need to change our mindset–if we push through for the next couple of weeks, we have a real shot at CIFs! The game against Northwood was another win in the bag, so it’s just another step on our way to CIFs!”
