Girls Varsity Basketball won against Aliso Niguel 30-29 in their home game last Friday, defeating a top 10 team in county.
This is a great win,” coach Nicole Bradshaw said. “It will go down as one of my favorite wins.”
Last season, the girls were ranked 19th in county while Aliso Niguel was ranked 4th.
Losing the game, Aliso Niguel’s rank dropped below top 10. Starting the game, the girls were ahead in the first quarter with a score of 15-4.
The girls faced a fierce offence from Aliso,  but were able to get the win by a one point margin
“We just played really good defense,” coach Bradshaw said.
The team had strong coordination, and were able to come together as a unit to run several plays.
Additionally, senior captain Malia Goldsmith, serving as point guard, shot 20 points in total throughout the game.
“[She] was our go to player for the win,” Coach Bradshaw said.
Girls Basketball has an overall of 9-4 and had won three consecutive games, setting up a good stage for the League.
The girls’ next game is on Tuesday, December 18 at 5:30 p.m. against Northwood High School.
