Boys Lacrosse beat El Dorado by a score of 14-8 for their first game of the season on March 1.

The team had initial difficulties with their defense but improved in the second half according to senior Kaveen Panditha.

“At the beginning, we had trouble scoring and defending the team, but because of our great teamwork we got back quickly and were able to win the game,” Panditha said.

Senior Rustin Sorat attributed the victory to the team’s mentality throughout the game.

“Friday’s game showed us how good we could be if we play to our potential, but also that if we don’t believe we can’t achieve a lot of stuff,” Sorat said.

Senior Brandon Hariyanto focused on the statistics of the game, and the connection between their success and practice.

“The four goals on the game on Friday showed us that the team who wins is not determined by our past records, but the effort we put in now. Most importantly, we also had fun,”  Hariyanto stated.

Junior Phat Nguyen also gave out similar opinions as the others, citing a need for overall team improvement.

“We played well together considering it was our first game, but there is definitely more room for improvements,” Nguyen added.

Assistant Coach Kevin Groh concluded on specific elements that allowed the team to pull off the victory.

“It was the first game of the year, and I think it went very well because they were able to execute what they have been working on practice. They showed cohesion, communicated with each other, moved the ball smoothly, and worked great as a team. I can see that the training has paid off well,” Groh said.

Boys Lacrosse next game will be against Edison High School at their home field on Wednesday, March 6.
