Boys soccer won 2-0 in a league match against Beckman High School, securing 2nd place in league and C.I.F. qualification for their fourth straight year. However, due to Woodbridge also winning their league match, the Trojans will be unable to claim their third straight league title.

“Unfortunately we have no chance of winning league anymore after today, but it’s a step forward towards our goal of going deep in C.I.F.,”senior captain and defender Kyle Biagan said.

However, to achieve their goals in C.I.F., the team needs to improve their communication and chemistry, as that has been their kryptonite thus far.

“We need a mental change and rework of our communication skills as a unit to get it together,” junior midfielder Andrew Jang said.

However, the match against Beckman could be the sign of a turning point for the team, as they showed significant improvement from their loss against Beckman earlier this season, dominating possession and staying in control throughout the whole game.

“We defended well and maintained a good amount of possession, which led us to score two quality goals,” Biagan said.

The team was satisfied with their style of play as well, emphasizing possession and passing.

“It was relieved to play our style again and to see everyone enjoying playing as a team again… it was a strong step in the right direction, but there is still room for improvement,” senior captain and midfielder Neil Hudson said.

The team will look to continue their momentum heading into upcoming C.I.F. matches.
