Boys lacrosse lost their first preseason game against Canyon by a score of 5-7

Throughout the game, the team was struggling to keep up, but decreased the gap in goals in the final quarter. However, the improvement shown throughout the game was encouraging, as the team may be lacking experience.

“Our first game was…the first ever lacrosse game for many,” Coach Andreas Gaynor said.

Despite the lack of experience, the team looks to quickly improve in order to compete.

“We continually build the players abilities and knowledge of the game. Most schools in our league have more players and more experience, but we hold our own,” Coach Gaynor said.

As the players are only focusing on their abilities, they must also focus on improving their team chemistry.

“Each player is in the process of trying to become the best teammate they can be. Mastering individual skills is essential to solid team play,” Coach Gaynor said.

As the team grows stronger, they’re coming closer to their ultimate goal.

“One of our goals is to improve enough to make the CIF SS Playoffs,” Coach Gaynor said.

With their first game of the season over, the team can prepare for their next game on March 4 against El Toro.
