On Saturday, October 19, the cross country team ran in the Orange County Cross Country Championships at Irvine Regional Park. However, because the PLAN and PSAT standardized tests were on the same morning, several sophomores and juniors could not attend the meet.
Even without a significant part of the team, some of UHS’ runners still did well. Spencer Sheen (Fr.) placed 3rd among freshmen with a time of 16:53. Other notable performances include Sam Quinby (Sr.) placing 11th in Junior-Varsity and Vanessa Yang (Fr.) placing 21st in Frosh-Soph.
Yang said, “Even though half of the team wasn’t there, some people still did great. Anne Chen (Sr.) had shin splints and tendonitis and still wanted to run. She was inspirational for cross country.”
The team’s next meet will be Mt. SAC Cross Country Invitational on Saturday, October 26.
