Varsity Girls Volleyball lost their first game of the season 3-0 to San Juan Hills on August 29.
The Trojans were down 10-5 in the first 15 minutes. The team had great serves that forced some reception errors for San Juans, which allowed Trojans to catch up by 2 points to 11-8. “I think we played really well and we hustled a lot,” player Billie Fitzpatrick (Jr.) said. “We made sure we got every ball up”.
After a strong 3-0 start in the second set, the girls fell behind. “I think we kept our energy really consistent and we never gave up,” player Klaire Thoman (Sr.) said. “They were just kind of bigger and stronger than us.” Thoman executed multiple kills during the game.
Despite the loss, the team has high hopes for the rest of the season. “We have some younger players who are developing really well for us and I’m looking forward to the rest of the season.” Coach Brendon Directo (Athletics Dept.) said. “This team is a special team and we’re going to be better than we have been in the last couple of years.”
