Girls Golf won 183-205 against Beckman High School on Thursday, October 12. This is their final match of the season after their match against Woodbridge earlier on in the week (Tuesday, October 10) was cancelled due to Canyon Fire 2.
Overall, the team is satisfied with their performance during the match and the season in general. “We tried to do our best as always and we did.” Co-Captain Samantha Cabunag (Sr.) said. “I think every shot is a defining moment because in the end every shot counts; we could lose or win by 1.”
Player Nodoka Honda (Jr.) reflects on past matches, which have also been strong victories. “The last few matches have gone pretty well in my opinion,” Honda said. “Personally, I’ve shot low and under par.”
The team recognizes Cabunag for playing exceptionally well. “I think Samantha stood out today.” Co-Captain Kristin Shea (Sr.) said. “She made a lot of her long birdie putts.”
Cabunag credits her success to hard work and reflects on her years in golf. “I practice a lot and keep myself as calm and positive as possible,” Cabunag said. “ As a senior, it was really bittersweet and I’m grateful for the opportunities and memories these four years on Varsity Girls Golf has given me.”
“4 years went by really fast and I couldn’t have asked for a better team,” Shea said. “I’m so proud of how we all grew as a team and how much everyone has improved and I’ll be rooting for them in the years to come.”
The team has league finals on Wednesday, October 18 at El Prado Golf Course.
