On Friday, November 8, the cross country team ran in their last league meet: the Pacific Coast League Cross Country Championships.
In boys Varsity, co-captain Daniel Brouwer (Jr.) placed 12th, other co-captain Sam Quinby (Sr.) placed 16th, and Spencer Sheen (Fr.) placed 17th. In girls Varsity, co-captains Rachel Higson (Sr.) and Sarah Stern (Jr.) placed 29th and 30th, respectively, and Kyra Schmidt (Jr.) placed 31st.
In girls Junior Varsity, Yaus Agahi (Jr.) placed 10th, followed by Jeannie Zeng (Jr.), who placed 14th. Jeffrey Doan (Sr.) placed 9th in boys Junior Varsity; Eli Tita (So.) placed 6th in boys Frosh-Soph followed by Mackhai Nguyen (So.), who placed 11th. Vanessa Yang (Fr.) placed 15th in girls Frosh-Soph .
“Everyone tried so hard at this meet and the spirit was great,” said Nguyen. “We also had a lot of great individual results. This year overall, the underclassmen really stepped up to the mark. I definitely plan on going to CIF as a team in my senior year.” When asked how the seniors made an impact this season, Nguyen said, “The seniors were inspirational this year and really pushed us to constantly improve.” Yang said, “The seniors were a lot friendlier than I thought! I’ll miss them a lot next year.”
