Boys Varsity Soccer won 2-0 against Brea Olinda at home on Friday, December 15.
Compared to last year’s tight score of 1-0, the team scored an extra goal against Brea Olinda this year. The team is now at four wins, zero losses, and two draws in the preseason.
Both junior midfielder Dhanvi Desu and junior striker Pedro Palmaka scored points in the first half while sophomore forward/midfielders Omar Sabbagh and Aydin Adbollahi had assists. Senior goalkeeper Jimmy Choi managed to get two saves throughout the game.
The team was satisfied with their victory and with the overall improvement from last year. “It was a good game all-around,” Sabbagh said. “We had a great possession of the game and we just had fun. We were great!”
Despite the victory, the team recognized Brea Olinda as a challenging opponent due to the difficulty of the match. “The other team did really well too,” junior JV player Cole Carlson said. “But they just couldn’t hold the ball up.”
Sophomore JV player Neil Hudson agreed with Carlson’s sentiment about Brea Olinda as a tough competitor. “It was the toughest team we were up against so far,” Hudson said. “But it was a great game [and] we played really well.”
With two games remaining in the preseason schedule, the team will play their next home game on Wednesday, January 3 against Canyon High School.
