Carrie Bradshaw from the Carrie Diaries is back! The second season premiered on the CW Television Network (CW) on Friday, October 25.
I honestly did not expect The Carrie Diaries to come back with a second season. Even though it was one of the most popular shows of 2012, there were rumors that the series struggled with gaining enough views in order to have a second season. I was a fan from episode one, so I was really excited when I heard that there was going to be a second season.
The Carrie Diaries depicts Carrie Bradshaw’s life as a teenager. She, however, is not a typical teenager. Carrie is very passionate about writing and works very hard to gain success in her future. She enjoys her internship as a writer and assistant at Interview Magazine in Manhattan but struggles to balance friendship, family, romance, school and work.
The first season’s finale ends with Carrie having difficulties in her relationship with Sebastian. At the end of the episode, Carrie is given the opportunity to go live in Manhattan for the summer. She gladly accepts the new internship in order to escape her troubles in Castlebury.
The season two premiere, “Win Some, Lose Some,” was released on October 25 and depicted Carrie’s experience in Manhattan. All the main characters appeared briefly and provided a good idea of what they have done since the first season’s finale. “Win Some, Lose Some” also introduced new and unlikely friendships, adventure, opportunities and the renewal of old friendships.
The Carrie Diaries is a very enjoyable series. It is a prequel to the hit series Sex In the City, making it easier for those who have watched Sex In the City to connect it to the new series. The Carrie Diaries, unlike Sex in the City, aims for the teenager and young adult audience. I enjoy watching this show because it is different from other shows: it shows how life as a teenager was like in the ‘80s, which is an interesting contrast to today. Give this series a chance and catch it on CW every Friday at 8/7 Central.
