On Wednesday, February 26, The #15 ranked Trojans took on the #2 ranked Ventura High School at the UHS stadium for the second round of CIF play. The Trojans came out strong and by the end of the first quarter were only trailing 18-11. Unfortunately, this was the smallest deficit for the team as Ventura began to pull away before half-time. The final score was 54-30.
Emily Reiland (Sr.) was named MVP of the Pacific Coast League. She said on twitter, “Thank you so much to anyone who supported us this year or has been apart of these last 10 years. I’m so grateful for every moment. All great things come to end.”
On February 22, The Trojans won their first CIF game against Santa Fe High School (65-60). Emily Reiland (Sr.) led the team by scoring 30 points.
Dana Bossenmeyer (Sr.) said after the game, ” I feel amazing because we won our first game in CIF and I am looking forward for the rest of the competition.”
That was the Trojans’ tenth straight victory as they are currently seeded number 15 out of 32 teams in the CIF southern division.
Kiarra Warren (Jr.) said, “We feel amazing because the team is in great form, and with every victory we get stronger and stronger.”
The University High School (UHS) girls basketball team qualified for the California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) tournament by finishing in first place in the Pacific Coast League.
