February 5, 2020
Boy’s Basketball suffered a tough loss against Beckman in their game this past Tuesday, ending with an overall score of 72-79. The team is currently fourth in league, with this game marking the team’s fifth loss this League Season, now having a record of 4-5.
“We can improve on turnovers for the game cause we had way too many. We shot the ball pretty well, but we need to do a lot better on the defensive side” said Junior Kody Uyesugi.
By the end of the first quarter, the Trojans were neck and neck with Beckman, with both teams finishing with sixteen points. After pulling ahead one point by halftime, ultimately, the team was not able to maintain their lead in the third quarter, scoring seventeen points to Beckman’s twenty-nine. Despite scoring six more points in the fourth quarter than their opponent, University suffered a close loss, ending their second to last game of the season.
In a previous match against Beckman, the Trojans had won, defeating the team in a close win 66-63.
“I thought that overall we played very well, but we were undersized against Beckman’s big guys. Moving forward, I think that we can improve if we can continue to work on boxing out” said Senior Will Stenta.
Boy’s Basketball’s next game will take place this Thursday, February 6th, at 7:00 PM against Woodbridge at Woodbridge High School.
