The Trojans faced off against Northwood High last Friday, March 6th, and unfortunately were unable to come away with the victory. Although the Trojans had a strong offensive performance, batting in five runs, they were unable to get enough defensive stops, ultimately losing 8-5.
Senior pitcher and first baseman Faraz Markazi and Junior third baseman and outfielder Beckett Kreter both had solid performances at the plate. They each had three hits and an RBI. “Before the game I just try to go through my routine and prepare myself so that I get in the right mindset to succeed. Our biggest strength is our chemistry and our willingness to pull for one another even when we’re not all playing our best. Coach always says that one team full of guys who pull for one another is always better than a few good individuals and we have bought into that as a team.” Markazi said
One of the reasons the Trojans struggled defensively were because of the errors they made, of which there were 5 in total. Senior infielder Rahul Pal spoke of the improvements the team will need going forward into the season.
“We need to work on getting our runners to home plate once they get on base. We’ll get back on the winning track by getting hits and not making errors on the defensive end” Pal said.
After starting the season strong, with three consecutive wins, the Trojans have lost two games and tied one. “In order to get back on track we just have to stay with ourselves and develop a better approach at the plate to get some more runs across.” Markazi said
Following Baseball’s game against Portola being cancelled due to weather, the Trojans will play Irvine tomorrow, March 13th, at 3:30 at Irvine High School.
