The University High School (UHS) boys basketball team kicked off the league season by playing against Woodbridge High School (WHS) on Friday, January 10. The Trojans lost (81-60) but the UHS crowd remained energetic and positive throughout the entire game. After the first half, the Trojans were only down by ten points. The third quarter was the turning point of the game; WHS scored 26 points, making it very difficult for the Trojans to fight back.
Kasey Uyesugi (Sr.) said, “Today we learned that nothing is going to be easy. We need to learn how to keep fighting throughout the entire game, not just 3 quarters of the game. We started out the way we wanted to play, but unfortunately couldn’t keep it up.” The Trojans will have another shot at beating WHS in two weeks (January 31).
The Trojans lost to Beckman High School (79-65) on Tuesday, January 14. The UHS boys basketball team is now focusing on its next league game against Corona Del Mar High School on Friday, January 17 at UHS.
