Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez’s relationship has been a topic of contention ever since their IHOP date in 2010. Over the years, the two shared an on-and-off relationship until their official break-up eight years later. 

During their many breaks, Bieber was constantly spotted with model Hailey Baldwin, although he always reunited with Gomez. After a more serious break, however, Bieber instantly rekindled his romance with Baldwin and wasted no time, proposing only two months later. 

Due to the short turnaround time for Bieber to propose to Baldwin, many fans speculated that Bieber had cheated on Gomez multiple times throughout their precarious relationship. In addition, Gomez’s song. “Lose You To Love Me,” released in 2020, references many lines about cheating and emotional damage during her relationship. 

Some have claimed that Baldwin “stole” Bieber from a healthy relationship and rushed him into an unwanted marriage, hence the backlash Baldwin has faced over the years.

Public speculation about Hailey Bieber’s intentions even prompted Selena Gomez to address the hate Bieber had received on Instagram live. 

“I do not stand for women tearing women down and I will never, ever, be by that,” Gomez said. 

Fast forward to today, Hailey Bieber recently spoke on a podcast interview called “Call Her Daddy” with host Alex Cooper. Having agreed to very few interviews in the past, her appearance came as a surprise to many. Previously, Bieber and Baldwin rarely spoke out about drama regarding their past relationships, but Baldwin finally addressed decade-long concerns about her, Gomez and Bieber. 

Baldwin opened up and cleared the air on the past controversy.

“I can say, period, point blank, I was never with him when he was in a relationship with anybody – that’s the end of it,” Baldwin said. 

Because Baldwin has never spoken out about what happened between her and Bieber, many fans drew a connection to Selena Gomez’s new documentary coming out in November 2022. Fans believe Baldwin was trying to save her reputation before Gomez’s documentary could do the opposite.

Gomez then spoke out again, but on TikTok live this time.

Claiming that the hate was “vile and disgusting” and against the values of her and her makeup brand, Rare Beauty, stand for, Gomez quickly discredited the hate both women had faced. 

In another interview, Hailey shared that Gomez and she had talked after her marriage with Bieber. Although there were no details about the topic of this conversation, fans were more convinced that there wasn’t any remaining bad blood. 

“Call Her Daddy” reached No. 1 on Spotify after Hailey Bieber appeared on Cooper’s podcast. The interview concluded with other details about Baldwin’s relationship and how she handled the long period of backlash. Bieber explained that she was very happy with her marriage and despite the hate she received, she learned how to take care of her mental health and reach a happy point in her life.
