The University High School (UHS) girls soccer team lost to Northwood High School (NHS) on Tuesday, February 11, Corona Del Mar High School (CDM) on February 6 and Beckman High School (BHS) on February 4, but defeated Woodbridge High School (WHS) on January 30.
The girls battled NHS at the UHS Stadium on February 11. Although Iva Petkov (Fr.) was able to score, they lost to the Timberwolves by a score of 5-1.
The Trojans played the CDM Sea Kings on Thursday, February 6. The team gave its maximum effort, but was unable to shape up on the defensive side, costing them the game, ending it with a loss of 6-2.
Tia Divok (Jr.) said, “We all really wanted to beat our rival CDM, but we just could not keep up with their offense, they just kept scoring.”
Two days earlier, the girls traveled to play the BHS Patriots on Tuesday, February 4. Despite the team’s great effort and teamwork, the Trojans were unable to score and lost by a score of 2-0.
The Trojans played against WHS on Thursday, January 30. The girls played a very solid game and maintained their momentum until the final whistle, wrapping up the game with a score of 3-2. Chloe Hemingway (Sr.) scored two goals; Reema Bzeih (Sr.) scored one. Hemingway and Bzeih both signed their Letter of Intents with UCLA on February 5. They plan to attend the university next year on a soccer scholarship.
The Trojan’s have their last game against Irvine High School (IHS) on Thursday, February 13, their Game of the Week (GOW). The Trojans currently stand 2-6-1 in Pacific Coast League, and are hoping to claim the wild card spot to qualify for CIF.
