With the 2024-2025 school year just getting started at UHS, one of our largest cornerstones to success lies in the arts. Many excellent variations of art are offered at UHS, from visual and performing arts such as theater, dance and art studio to auditory branches, including choir and instrumental music.
The Uni Arts Core is a culmination of these varied classes, and the duo leading as commissioners this year are senior Annabelle Wonder and junior Daniel Nam. They plan on making this year as successful and enjoyable as possible, with a focus on not just the arts but also the students.
Wonder and Nam are both avid arts students, with a focus on the experiences interspersed throughout the year via the students’ and attendees’ eyes. One main goal the commissioners seek to achieve this year is increased recognition and unity amongst all forms of art offered.
“Daniel and I are definitely an ambitious pair that make sure to take the input of art students and teachers to shape our programs and events,” Wonder said. “We hope to create arts in a unified, inclusive and creative space here at UHS.”
Wonder has an easy and achievable path to joining the UHS Arts Core community.
“The best way to get involved is to talk to people,” Wonder said. “Oftentimes, all it takes is a simple conversation. If the art you’re looking to get involved in has an executive board, I find that those on board are the best to talk to. They are students that can speak to their experience and also offer up-to-date guidance on how to start.”
All UHS students are welcome to actively participate in an art or attend an event. Each art, whether visual or auditory, has an executive board and its own Arts Core moments to share.
Wonder and Nam have many upcoming activities to celebrate the UHS Arts Core.
“Daniel and I are working on a multitude of events that highlight visual artists at UHS,” Wonder said. “I would encourage everyone interested in upcoming performances and events to follow VAPA accounts on Instagram for real-time updates, as well as our @UHSartscore account.”
Follow these accounts for the best information on what’s to come, and be sure to celebrate the Arts Core at UHS this school year.
