After over a week of anticipation, UHS revealed its Homecoming Court on Sept. 3. The Homecoming Court consisted of seniors Keira Choe, Carmen Cruz, Alexis Fazeli, Handerson Lee, Adrian Nguyen, Tak Nishida, Benjamin Reyna, Bruno Rodriguez Diaz, Cindy Rodriguez, Chloe Schiffman, Shuba Sentihilkumar and Evan Zhong. The chosen seniors were those who have exemplified the values of the Trojan community throughout their four years at UHS.
The selection process for Homecoming Court began with students nominating seniors for their positive contributions on campus. It then culminated in a student body vote, where all students could vote for their choice among the nominated seniors. Selected seniors expressed their gratitude for being chosen.
“I am really honored that I was chosen to be a part of the Homecoming Court this year,” Sentihilkumar said.
The first significant event for seniors selected for the Homecoming Court was a short performance at the Homecoming Pep Rally. After being assigned a partner, each duo choreographed a dance to a personalized mashup song. Through this experience, students had the opportunity to showcase their creativity and bond with fellow court members.
“As a member of the court, I’m looking forward to the opportunity to meet more people,” Nguyen said.
Each member had the opportunity to walk down the red carpet during halftime of the Homecoming Game, which took place on Sept. 20. After each senior enjoyed their spotlight moment, Zhong and Schiffman were announced as Homecoming King and Homecoming Queen. Leading up to the game, many expressed anticipation for the special walk.
“I’m super excited to walk down the red carpet with my friends,” Nguyen said. “It’s definitely going to be an experience which I’m not going to forget.”
However, none of these events would have been possible without the behind-the-scenes work of junior Kiran Nanda. As Junior Class President, she oversaw the entire process, from releasing the nomination forms to attending the Homecoming Court members’ rehearsals to ensure they were fully prepared for the Homecoming Pep Rally. Ultimately, all of these efforts fostered an unforgettable Trojan experience for many.
“I know that watching them perform their dances at the pep rally and walking down the red carpet at the Homecoming Game will make it all worthwhile,” Nanda said.
