The University High School (UHS) Trojans boys lacrosse team played the San Juan Hills Stallions on Monday, March 17 at the University Stadium. The Trojans started off strong and scored first, ending the first quarter with a score 1-0 . But, by halftime the Trojans trailed the Stallions by 1 goal. After halftime, the Trojans dug deep and were able to get a goal in the 4th quarter to tie the game.
Following a last second save by goalie Jake Strand (Sr.), the game headed into overtime, a period in which one goal would end the game in sudden death. One period of overtime proved not be enough as the game went into a second overtime, where Brian Cook (Sr.) scored the game winning goal to top off his amazing 7 goal performance. Other goal scorers were Curran Allison (Jr.) and Baeksun Kim (Jr.), each contributing one goal. UHS won by a final score of 9-8.
Kim said after the game, “Everyone stepped up this game and played extremely well. Coming off a tough loss against Corona del Mar High School, we wanted to show everyone even though we are a small program, we could still play. And that is exactly what we did with this win.”
