As customers enter Nothing Bundt Cakes, they are greeted by a cozy, inviting ambience, homey furniture, friendly employees and, of course, the fragrant aroma of baking batter. Inside, display tables showcase different holiday-themed cakes. The chain strives to achieve perfection by using fresh, quality ingredients to produce readily available delicious cakes.
Nothing Bundt Cakes is a chain of bakeries with a location in the Tustin District specializing in bundt cakes in a variety of flavors and sizes. A bundt cake is baked in a ring shaped Bundt pan, which gives it its distinctive structure. Nothing Bundt Cakes puts a unique twist on the bundt cake by decorating it with its signature petals of cream cheese frosting.
Customers can choose to order readymade cakes from the refrigerated display case or anything else from a hanging menu. While they wait for their order, customers can also help themselves to free bite-sized samples of the flavor of the day and look through a giant book of cake designs. There is no seating area in the store, but since the cakes are served in packages, they can easily be transported between venues.
Nothing Bundt Cakes is fairly pricey, with $21.00 eight inch cakes, $31.00 ten inch cakes and $61.00 tiered cakes. The bakery is known for their birthday and holiday themed cakes, which can be elaborately decorated with ribbons, flags and signs for an additional fee of $8.95. Customers can also purchase bundtinis, bite sized bundt cupcakes that sell for $19.75 a dozen. Despite the cost, the sizeable portions, quality and exceptional taste of the cakes make them well worth the price.
Cakes come in nine year-round flavors ranging from the classic red velvet and chocolate to more unique flavors like white chocolate raspberry and cinnamon swirl. In addition, limited edition seasonal flavors such as pumpkin spice are available. Gluten-free cakes are also offered in select locations.
On my visit, I ordered a pre-made red velvet bundlet, which is a single serving bundt cake, for $4.49. Its fluffy cocoa and buttermilk batter was smooth and delicious, and the chocolate chips baked into the cake added a touch of sugary crunch. I also sampled a piece of the cinnamon swirl bundt cake, which was fresh, velvety and baked to perfection. I could taste hints of sugar and cinnamon. The signature cream cheese frosting on both cakes was rich, creamy and sweet. My cake’s container kept it perfectly intact while I spent the afternoon walking around the mall, and the portion size was perfect for a snack or dessert.
