Ellen Takada (Sr.) competed in the Girls Golf CIF Southern California Championships and moved on to the State Championships by placing third. There were 128 total competitors, but only the top 9 players could move onto the State Championships.
She bogeyed her first hole of the course, but was patient and made birdies throughout the round.
Takada finished with a score of 1 under par 70, placing 3rd. She qualified to play in the State Championships on November 17 in Pebble Beach.
In the State Championships, she shot 75 and tied for 8th in the state. The golf course was one of the best and roughest courses Takada had played in.
The winner of the tournament at Poppy Hills Golf Course was Corona Del Mar golfer Alyaa Abdulghany. She set a tournament record of 2 under par.
Takada said, “The competition was tough, but I was able to stay humble and focused. This has been a great senior year and I’m glad I was able to represent Uni.”
Takada’s golf career will continue into college as she will be playing for the University of Washington.
