University High School has hired a new Assistant Principal, Ms. Connie Park, for the second semester of the school year 2015-2016. She will be replacing Ms. Amy Paulsen (Asst. Principal) who will be going to Portola High School next semester.
Park has worked in Long Beach Unified School District, ABC Unified School District the City of San Francisco and for Duarte High School as an Assistant Principal of Curriculum and Instruction. She also has experience in ASB and as a math teacher.
“Ms. Park is a calm and confident person who seems to care deeply for the schools she has served,” said Dr. Kevin Astor (Principal). “Ms. Park cares deeply about the school community and seeks to serve students, staff and families with integrity. She looks forward to coming to Uni events and really wants to get to know our students.”
Park was chosen over about 40 applicants, after a selective process of interviews and discussions.
“Of course we want someone who is intelligent, creative, dedicated and works with the highest level of integrity,” said Astor. “Above all else, though, we want someone who will invest in people and build strong relationships.”
Big changes are not expected for students.
“I didn’t know that there was a new assistant principal coming to Uni for second semester. I don’t think there would be any changes in my school life,” said Anthony Rachtmat (Jr.)
“I want to thank the staff, students, and parents for allowing me to have some of my best years in education here at Uni,” said Paulsen.“I am also overjoyed by the support of our staff; everyone is excited for my journey and the opening of Portola as well.”
