The girls golf team defeated Laguna Hills High School 200-278 on Thursday, September 1st at Strawberry Farms Golf Club. The match was a pre-season practice match, which means the win will not contribute to their league ranking or qualification for CIF.
“We won by a lot, (and) we did well.” player Nodoka Honda (Soph.) says. The 78 point gap was unusually large.
“This match is important because it really set the tone for the rest of the season” head coach Kevin Kasper (Science Dept.) says. “We have established some goals like winning the Pacific Coast League and going to CIF”. Last year the girls golf team qualified for CIF as a whole, while players Samantha Cabunag (Jr.) and Nodoka Honda (Soph.) qualified as individuals as well.
“Overall, we have a really great team this year and we expect to have a good season.” Mr. Kasper. says. Players he says to watch out for are the two CIF individual qualifiers and co-captains Celine Nie (Sr.) and Kelly Huang (Sr.).
The girls golf team’s first league match will be on Tuesday, November 6th at 3pm against Northwood at Strawberry Farms Golf Club.
