Girls Varsity Tennis was narrowly defeated 7-11 by Campbell Hall last Thursday, September 15. Heading into the game, the Trojans knew of the challenge as the Vikings are currently polled seventh, ahead of UHS in CIF-Southern Section.
Girls Tennis was only dominant in doubles, prevailing over Campbell Hall with doubles partners Kayla Agustin (Jr.) and Snigdha Vayalapadu (Jr.) leading the way to an overall score of 7-2.
“I think our team could improve on working together more in doubles and being confident overall in our play,” said Captain Ashlyn Wang (Sr.).
Campbell Hall overwhelmingly beat Varsity Tennis with a perfect singles score of 9-0. It was noted that the number one singles player, Halla Alajeely (Sr.), was unable to attend the game.
Despite these setbacks, UHS continued to play their best. “Today, I think the team was amazing.” said Tiffany Markus (Jr.) “Despite having two of our starters out we still worked our hardest and supported each other.”
The team still has a very high chance of qualifying for CIF as they have done so for 7 consecutive years. Their first league game is at home on September 22 against Beckman High School.
