Girls Cross Country runner Cecilia Langlois (So.) placed 57th out of 176 runners in Division I at CIF Southern Section Championship Finals on November 19. Langlois was the only student from UHS.
“I’m pretty happy with how I did.” Langlois said. “I just wanted to run better than I did in prelims.” Her time at prelims was 18:26.5, while her time at finals was 18:24.7.
“I was on the very inside and right off the start I was in the back of the group,” Langlois said when asked about factors that affected her performance. “It was very weird because you can’t pass anyone in the beginning when 200 people are running together. Toward the end it gets more spread out.”
“Ceci is an amazingly hard worker. I think that she’s so determined and I’m so proud of her.” teammate Madeleine Boschen (Jr.) said.
“Everyone on cross country is very supportive. Only I had to be there on Saturday but like four people and the coaches came to support me. They made me a poster and it was pretty cool.” The meet was at Riverside City Cross Country Course.
“She’s good at every sport. She’s good at water polo and soccer and track.” said Girls Water Polo player Ashley Yang (Jr.). Langlois will be on the water polo team during the winter season and track in the spring.
“I just want to do the best I can do and improve.” Langlois said. “I genuinely find it fun to run.”
