Varsity Girls Soccer won 5-0 against Ocean View High School on Thursday, December 8. This victory was a significant comeback after their previous loss against Mater Dei.
In their last game against Mater Dei, UHS lost 1-4. The girls were able to learn from that game and perform as well as they did against Oceanview. Several players including Kiana Ghamarifard (Sr.), Emma Goolsby (Jr.), Paige Metayer (Jr.), Abby Sanders (So.), and Leyna Wood (Jr.) all scored a goal.
“I am really proud of us for coming out and really possessing the ball,” Metayer said. “I think we can work really well together and we will do well on season.”
After a timeout, the team was able to develop several plays against Oceanview to create a spark on offense. The heavy offensive attack was too much for Oceanview as they saw 5 goals scored against them in a shutout game..
As league approaches, the girls hope to further improve their skills individually and as a whole. “We will continue to work hard as a team,” Goolsby said. “I’m sure as the season progresses we can get a lot better.”
The girls will have their third home game of the preseason against San Juan Hills High School on December 15.
