Boys Varsity Soccer lost 1-2 against Corona del Mar High School on Thursday, January 12, marking their first loss of the season. Coming into this game, the Trojans held a record of ten wins, one tie, and no losses, while being ranked first in the Pacific Coast League.
The first half was filled with intensity and tight competition, with both teams’ defenses not allowing any good opportunities to score. Breaking the deadlock, CDM scored a goal to take the lead, making the score 1-0 in the Sea Kings’ favor.
The second half appeared promising for the Trojans when midfielder Luis Moros (So.) scored the equalizer, tying the score at 1-1. However, CdM scored a decisive goal near the end of the second half to seal their victory and prevent the continuation of the Trojan’s unbeaten record.
Reflecting on the match, defensive back Sam Kammerman (So.) said “As a team we were lacking in both good communication and teamwork. If we are to win league and maybe even CIF, we must improve on these areas and work as a single cohesive unit.”
Despite this unfortunate loss, the Trojans still feel confident in their ability to secure the League title. The Trojans play Woodbridge next at home on Thursday, January 19.
