Boys Varsity Soccer defeated Buena Park High School with a score of 3-0 on Monday, February 21. The game was originally held on February 17, but, due to the fierce weather, the game was postponed to Monday. With their first playoff victory, the team has high hopes with the CIF.
Pedro Palmaka (So.) made the first score with penalty kick in the first half of the game. Then Evan Mouchard (Jr) scored a long shot, with the last point was scored by Sam Kelley (Jr.).
“We played well and strong with our defense team the entire game” said James Choi (Jr.). The major defensive team players were Zach Howard (Jr.) and Julian Ricci (Sr.), both of whom have done amazing jobs at blocking the opponents in the game.
“I think we pressed the other team well, and we are good at kicking the ball and keep in possession,” said Kian Mohseni (Jr.). “We just showed that we are better than other teams.”
As the playoffs proceed, the team anticipates more challenging opponents, but they also feel they have the skills and preparation to succeed.
“We started off the game strong with the right mentality coming out of the season with a really good record,” said Jimmy Choi (Jr.) “so we are looking forward to have a good chance getting into CIF.”
