Boys Varsity Volleyball defeated El Modena 3-0 on Friday, March 3. Despite a mid-game injury, the team was still able to set up a strong play.
“We did really well on serving and passing, and we were able to run a pretty good offense.” player Christian Beltran (Jr.) said.
Despite the win, the team feels they could still improve “We play very hard, we work very hard and get up a lot of balls,” Coach Curt Mahle (Athletics Dept.) said. “But we need to work on understanding the the situation, playing what’s best for that scenario instead of trying to force certain things.”
An injury caused a mid-game interruption of around 20 minutes. “Sriram Balachandran (So.) caught an elbow to the eyebrow and it caused him to bleed on the courts,” Coach Mahle said. “We had to disinfect the whole area so it’s a safe environment to play in.”
As the team looks ahead to upcoming league matches, they feel they have improved from past years, and are ready to take on their opponents. “Our team is getting a lot better and we have a better team than last year so we have really high hopes.” Beltran said. “We just hope to get to CIF.”
The team will face off against Estancia High School on Friday, March 10 in their next home game.
