Boys and Girls Swim both won against Laguna Hills High School by a large margin, 103-67 and 107-62 respectively, on Wednesday March 6.
The girls were showed their strengths in their individual events. They won first place in 200 yard medley relay and 200 yard freestyle relay. Also, Claire Jang (Jr.) won first place in 50 yard freestyle, Alondra Ortiz (Jr.) won first place in 50 yard backstroke, and Yuuri Yoshikawa (So.) won first place in 200 yard individual medley.
“Even though no one gets CIF caps,” Jang said. “We are very close of getting it and our team did really well today.”
The boys were particularly strong in their relay events. The team won first place in 200 yard medley relay, 200 yard freestyle relay, and 400 yard freestyle relay. As for individual events, Aidan Yong (Jr.) won first place in two events, 200 yard individual medley and 100 yard breaststroke. Wohee (Aaron) Lee (So.) won first place in 100 yard butterfly, Hunter Knoll (Fr.) won first place in 500 yard freestyle, and Caedon Ng (Fr.) won first place in 100 yard backstroke.
“The opponents definitely did better than last year,” Luke Chang (Jr.) said. “But we still definitely beat them because we got a lot of impressive swimmers this year.”
This was the team’s first dual meet. Their victory gives them high hopes about getting into CIF this year.
Boys and Girls swim will have their next home meet on March 29 against Beckman High School.
