Girls Varsity Lacrosse lost 12-9 in their league home opener against Beckman on Monday, March 20. Despite the loss, this was a very positive game for the Trojans against a strong Beckman team. The girls record is now 4-2 overall.
The game was back and forth all game long point for point with the Trojans going into the half with a momentous 7-6 lead. Ashlyn Wang (Sr.) scored a big goal to give UHS that lead in the final seconds of the first half.
The second half was a different story as Beckman outscored the Trojans 6-2 by pulling away in the final two minutes.
Wang and midfielder Raeann Artim (So.) lead the team in scoring with impressive offensive performances. Wang leads the team in scoring with 10 goals on the season thus far.
Goalie Grace Caceros (So.) played well by blocking shots and keeping the game close.Grace has 23 saved goals on the season.
“This was a really good performance for our team and proves that we can hang with Beckman” said Megan Lee (Sr.)
The girls’ next game is against Northwood on Wednesday, March 22.
