Girls Varsity Lacrosse won against Northwood 14-9 on Wednesday, March 22. This victory puts UHS in third place behind Beckman High School but in front of Irvine High School for Pacific Coast League.
During the first half of the game, UHS and Northwood remained neck and neck, but UHS then created a large margin of a lead in the second half. Three year varsity player Anneke Gustafson (Sr.) said, “We started off slow in the first half but came back in the second and played to our potential.”
The team’s true potential has begun to reveal itself after a big win in its second league game.
“Overall I think we worked as a team in a cohesive unit and outscored them in the second half,” Team Co-Captain Ashlyn Wang (Sr.) said.
The team feels very confident after this win because of its display of teamwork and talent from every position.
“Our depth of skill is perhaps stronger than ever and so I know that if we can bring that skill and work ethic onto the field every minute of every game then we can play with the best teams in our section,” Team Co-Captain Phoebe Solomon (Sr.) said, “and this season presents a remarkable opportunity for us to earn our prestige and reflect well on the school.”
The next lacrosse game against CdM will be held on Monday March 27 at CdM.
