UHS Softball lost a non-league home game to Tustin High by a score of 12-7 on Tuesday, March 21. The team now has a 3-3 record on the season.
UHS scored two runs in the second inning, one run in the fifth inning, and four runs in the seventh inning while Tustin had a six run outburst in the fourth. Tustin had a 12-3 lead going into the bottom of the seventh, and UHS was able to cut the deficit from nine to five.
Outfielder Zoe Manjarrez (Jr.) led the team with two runs, two hits, four stolen bases, and one run batted in while Hannah Press (Fr.) led the team in runs batted in with two. Monet Allister (So.) also added to the offensive effort with two hits. As a team, the Trojans were able to collect seven walks.
“Even though we lost, we can take a lot of positives away from this game moving forward” said Manjarrez.
Starting pitcher Jackie Diaz (So.) went seven innings on eleven earned with four strikeouts and six walks. Defensively, UHS played lights out defense by not committing a single error.
The next game for the Trojans is an away game against Katella High School on Saturday, March 25.
