UHS Softball lost 19-2 to Irvine in a home league game on Monday, April 24. With the loss, the Trojans now hold an 3-10 overall record and 0-4 league record which puts them in 5th place in PCL.
Jackie Diaz (Fr.) was the starting pitcher for the Trojans and went all seven innings.
Irvine got off to an early 3-1 first inning lead and would tack on three more in the second.
It was a 6-1 ball game going into the top of the third inning when Irvine exploded for a 13 run inning outburst.
Offensively, UHS put up one run in the first and one run in the fourth. Zoe Manjarrez (Jr.) had two rbi’s for the Trojans. Irvine would not score any more runs after their third inning performance.
“Hopefully we can win our next game going forward,” Manjarrez said.
The Trojans will take on Northwood High School in a makeup game on Wednesday, April 26. This game was rescheduled due to a lockdown situation that occurred last week at Northwood. With a win, the Trojans can tie for fourth place in PCL and move up in the standings.
