In Tuesday’s home game, boys baseball faced off against CdM for the second time this season. After a tough battle, the Trojans lost by a final score of 5-1.
The starter of the game was Farbod Markazi (Sr.) who would go on to pitch 4 innings and give up all five runs. All five runs were earned.
In the first inning, the Seakings scored on consecutive hits with two outs. That would be the only run they would score till the third. After getting a single and advancing on passed balls, Jake Rome (So.) would score for the Trojans and tie it at one all. It would end up being the only run scored in the game for the Trojans.
After big hits and sacrifice flies, the score was 3-1 in favor of the Seakings. Two innings later, CdM would score twice again making the score 5-1. Markazi was then taken out of the game and replaced by pitcher Ryan Miller (So.).
Miller pitched 2 innings keeping the SeaKings at 5. Although the Trojan Bullpen was able to stop the power offense of CdM, the Trojans couldn’t pull through.
Today’s loss keeps boys baseball at fourth in league rankings. The next matchup will be the final game of the CdM series that will be held at CdM this thursday. The likely starter is David Schlomovitz (Jr.).
As the season is winding down, talk of next season has begun. Boys baseball is hoping to bounce back after three consecutive years of losing records. One person who surely thinks the Trojans shouldn’t be counted out of next year CIF contenders is pitcher Tyler Lu (Jr.). Lu has had to watch from the dugout this year for a lower back problem that has kept him from being able to play full strength.
Lu went on to say, “We have had some bumps in the road this year, but next year you best believe we are coming out strong and finishing stronger.”
