Football looks to the future after a tough loss against CdM

The Varsity Football team fought a tough game against Corona del Mar on Friday night, losing  3-42.
CdM scored their first touchdown at the 10 yard line against the team two minutes into first quarter followed by the Trojans scoring a 27 yard field goal by Sam Kelley (Sr.). Running back, Daniel Dolan (Sr.), sprinted 62 yards down the field and almost scored a touchdown, but was tackled down at the 12 yard line. Three minutes into the quarter, quarterback Tristan Lucas (Sr.) passed the ball from the 40 yard line to Dolanbut Dolan was too far to catch.
CdM sprinted 20 yards down the field and scored their second touchdown with less than six minutes remaining. The Sea Kings scored their third touchdown one minute into the second quarter and the fourth touchdown was 10 seconds before the end of second quarter.
The team had two chances of scoring a touchdown, which was the pass that was intended for Dolan was overthrown at the 10 yard line, and Josiah Henry (Sr.) dropped the ball from the 30 yard line.
The offense later had another chance of scoring a touchdown, but the ball intended for Dolan was dropped at the 12 yard line. CdM scored their fifth touchdown two minutes into the third quarter. The Sea Kings sprinted 40 yards and scored their final touchdown of the game, finishing the game at 3-42.
“Since we can lose two games to make it to CIF, the intensity is only notching up now,” Lucas said. “[CdM] was one really good football team and it’s shown us where we need to improve and what we have to practice more of.”
The Sea Kings are currently ranked first in Pacific Coast League, while the Trojans are currently ranked third.
