Girls Varsity Lacrosse lost 19-5 against Mater Dei in the first round of the post-season tournament hosted by US Lacrosse.

This tournament is the lacrosse team’s version of CIF, and this was the first year in program history that UHS qualified. The girls needed to win their last game of the season against rivals Woodbridge, and did so emphatically, winning 12-2, just three days after their demolition of Irvine in a 23-3 thrashing.

After an enthralling season, the girls were matched up against the number one seeded team in the state in Mater Dei. The Monarch Lions had been rolling all season, ranked sixth in the state and thirty-ninth in the country. CdM, who hasn’t lost a game in league play all season, were beaten by Mater Dei 15-3.

It was a satisfying send off for all the seniors on the team. Anneke Gustafson (Sr.) said, “It was amazing to see how far the team has come since I started 3 years ago. I wouldn’t have kept going if it wasn’t for my teammates and friends. The people make playing worth it.”
