Girls Soccer lost to Edison 6-0 in their first official preseason game. Despite the loss, the team is confident that they will become better and better over the course of the regular season.
“We are just getting into the groove of the game and will be where we need to be by the end of the preseason,” senior captain and goalie Katherine Billiter said.
However, the team still feels there were positive signs from the game, especially given that their opponents are a highly ranked division 1 school.
“We definitely did not play our best, but we definitely have a lot of room and potential for improvement,” junior captain Mollie Kessler said. “I think that if we work really hard, we will get into a rhythm and turn this season around and start winning.”
With the upcoming season, the team has very ambitious goals for how they want to perform.
“Our goals this season are to dominate and win league and make it even further in CIF than last year,” junior midfielder Myla Rodrigues said.
Their chemistry both on and off the field could be crucial to achieving these goals.
“Off the field, we’re always laughing and having fun together but we also know when it’s time to put in work and because of that, when we are on the field we can play well together because of our chemistry,” Rodrigues said.
The team hopes this can translate onto the field, as they work hard to turn their season around.
“Although we haven’t had as good of a start to the season as we had hoped, we are still working hard in practice and getting better each game. As a team we are already really close and have good team chemistry so I am excited for the season,” senior captain and defender Tamara Nadjsombati said.

The team looks for a win in their upcoming game against Newport Harbor on December 12th.
