Over the weekend leading into Spirit Week, The Boy’s Water Polo Team partook in a tournament, achieved second place with a ratio of 3-1 and an overall record of 9-4. During the tournament, the team had their best game of the season against Glendora.
“We all had to push ourselves… [and] showed that we can be a competitive team,” senior Reily Kirkpatrick said.
With every member giving it their all, every outsider could see just how much the team has grown and improved as a team.
“We played very well as a team during… the tournament. Defensively, we shut teams down with our anticipation and communication,” sophomore Victor Martin said.
As the team performed effectively on defense, they excelled on offense. Despite the multiple steals and six ejections to set the team back, they still prospered.
“Juniors Matt Wallin and Stewart Campbell had the most goals over the whole tournament,” Coach Jesse Briggs said.
While keeping a high win rate, the members have been able to improve in their personal fields and use them to improve their teamwork
“We saw contributions from every athlete on the team… everybody had goals, assists, and defensive stops,” Coach Briggs said.
With the team’s synergy growing more and more by the game, it appears that their dreams are coming closer to their grasp.
They would like to build off this in their next game against Portola on October 1 at home.
