University faced off against Irvine High School last Tuesday, winning 13-5 and remaining undefeated. The two teams had played earlier in the year, with Irvine losing 11-7, the closest game the Trojans have played this season. This time around, however, University handled Irvine with ease.
For many on the team, this was an emotional match, as it was also the team’s Senior Night. Senior Allison Kim was proud of her team’s performance, and reflected on her experiences during her time on the tennis team.
“I was most proud of our sense of competitiveness and support, both of which are strong within our team,” said Kim.” This match was definitely one to remember, not only because of the tennis, but also because of the posters and messages the juniors and sophomores prepared for us. It was a great wrap to an amazing four years of being on the team”.
Fellow senior Evana Marouche shared similar sentiments as Kim.
“I felt like this win was most special to me because it was senior night. All of the seniors were together supporting the team. In one of my matches I made a comeback, and the most important part was that my team didn’t give up on me and was always there to cheer me on.” Marouche said.
The team has a couple games left before CIF begins, the last of which will be against Beckmann High School on October 28th, at 3 P.M.
