On December 3, the girls water polo team defeated Laguna Hills, giving them a 16-8 score and a strong start to the season.
“We started the season strong and I hope we can keep it up. These first games are a good chance for us to test out our skills in preparation for league games and I think that everyone is really improving,” Senior Driver Ysabel Mariana said.
As the team started the season with a great overall strength, they began their game just as strong and kept their lead throughout.
“I think our team was able to work well together and really play as a team which led us to winning,” Freshman Driver Ashley Wallin said.
Along with the superb teamwork from the girls, they were able to capitalize on their potent offense from Wallin with 7 goals.
“Ashley is a very aggressive player. She goes really far in and shoots very often and that’s all you could ask for in a player,” Coach Jesse Briggs said.
As Ashley keeps scoring high amounts of goals, she is being supported by her teammates that put in just as much work.
“I’m personally really proud of my teammates, especially Ashley and Freshman Drivers Caitlin Liao and Sophia Martin. They’re really amazing players and great team members,” Mariana said.
With a great start to the season and strong players, the team is ready for their home match against Aliso Niguel on December 10.
