On December 11th, Boys Soccer traveled to Newport Harbor High School for an away game, coming out on top 2-0. The Newport Harbor Sailors were undefeated before the match, yet University put together an impressive all-around performance. The team started the game strong, taking a commanding lead in the first half, which was one they would never relinquish.
Senior defender and captain Kyle Biagan spoke of the team’s quick start, as well as his relief to get a bounce-back win from their previous game against Godinez High School.
“Scoring early goals with two great crosses by Nic Conta (Junior fullback and captain) and Luca Flick Kaiser (Junior forward) helped us get an early [lead] that ended up being the result at the end. It’s always great winning on the road, but it was great to bounce back after our loss to Godinez” Biagan said.
The two assists by Conta and Flick Kaiser led to goals by Senior Captain and midfielder Adam Bello, senior forward Kaili Chen
Senior midfielder and defender Neil Hudson was pleased with the team’s performance, but stressed the need to improve for future games.
“We didn’t play as well as we could have. We’re working on being adaptable and being able to change our formation and style of play when our go to isn’t working” Hudson said.
Biagan shared similar thoughts to his teammate.
“We still need to improve every day but it’s always good to get another win on the record” he stated.
The Trojans have their next game against Portola High, January 14th, at 3:15 P.M at Portola.
