Girls Water Polo defeated Beckman for their second straight win in their push to qualify for CIF. The team won 8-7, and the match left them tied for second place heading into their final game against Woodbridge.
“I think we performed very well at the Beckman game, especially during the first quarter. The other quarters were not as good as the first so we could keep momentum in the game and on mental and physical endurance,” senior driver Sabine Salvucci said.
The team was able to get off to a fast start, which was ultimately crucial in securing the close victory.
“We scored twice in the first forty seconds of the game and finished the quarter with a 4-1 lead, giving us the momentum we needed to finish the game with a win,” junior Maria Langlois said.
The team’s hard work and chemistry was also on display throughout the match.
“I’m really proud of how my team played and they all worked really well together to secure a well deserved win. We’ve had a great season so far and the team has been working very hard during practice and at games,” senior captain Joy Chen said.
With 16 goals in their past two games, and comparing this game to the previous game against Beckman, it showed their improvement offensively.
“I think offensively the game was very good and we had a lot of good opportunities especially compared to the previous Beckman game. We could still work on communication and being aware of what the other players are doing,” Salvucci said.
