Boys Basketball won another league game against the Irvine Vaqueros at home on Friday, January 31st with a score of 70-52. The 28-point win put the team in a strong position as they are now 2-0 for the season, despite adversity with some serious injuries to key players.
“I thought the team played really well. It’s important to me that when we can, we really try and dominate a game. The kids did a really good job… asserting their dominance both offensively and defensively” Boys Basketball Coach Beau Budde said.
The Trojans had the upper hand from the start of the first quarter through the final minutes of the game.
“I’m glad we got the win and hopefully we can carry the momentum into future games” Senior Arjun Gill said.
The stands were packed with students, but the roaring atmosphere was no distraction to these players. The team’s offensive momentum strengthened as the game progressed while their defense remained solid.
“I’m really proud of the team for coming together and playing hard. We’ve been hit hard with injuries this season and it’s been a process working through that. It’s tough to go out there and show up for the guys you look up to when you’re used to playing with them,” Sophomore Carson Baxter said.
The team played in their final home game against Beckman High School at 7:00pm on February 4th, ending with a tough loss with a final score of 72-79.
