LeBron James, one of the most dominant basketball players of all time, has done it again. On Feb. 7, 2023, James broke the record for most points scored in the NBA, surpassing the legendary Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, who previously held the record of 38,387 points since 1984.

James finally exceeded Abdul-Jabbar’s record during a stunning performance against the Oklahoma City Thunder. He finished the game with 38 points, bringing his career total to 38,391 points.

It was a remarkable achievement for the 38-year-old James, who has been playing in the NBA since 2003. He has consistently been one of the league’s top scorers throughout his career, and this milestone has now cemented his place as one of the greatest players of all time.

After the game, James reflected on his achievement and success in an ESPN interview.

“I never dreamed of being in this position,” James said. “The scoring record was never, ever even thought of in my head because I’ve always been a pass-first guy.”

James also thanked his teammates, coaches and fans for their support throughout his career.

“This record is not just mine,” James said. “It’s a team effort. I couldn’t have done it without the help of so many people along the way.”

The NBA world was quick to react to James’ achievement, with many of his peers taking to social media to congratulate him.

“Congrats to the king @KingJames on breaking the all-time scoring record!” Lakers teammate Anthony Davis said.

Dallas Mavericks player Luka Doncic also offered his congratulations.

“It’s just amazing to watch him,” Donic said. “It’s his 20th season, and what he’s doing — he’s scoring 30, 40 almost every night. He’s just incredible.”

James has cemented his place as one of the greatest players of all time and will likely continue to add to his record over the next few years. For now, he can bask in the glory of this incredible achievement, and reflect on the hard work and dedication that got him there.
