As autumn approaches, students’ wardrobes shift to accommodate the changing weather. The seasonal change brings in many new and exciting fall trends. Prominently featured in these emerging trends is an overarching cozy vibe and earthy palette, though everyone always has something fun and unique to add to their autumn outfits.
Sophomore Karina Bhakta has described a fun new addition to her wardrobe for the season that fits well with fall’s cozy themes.
“I thrifted this grandpa sweater,” Bhakta said. “It has black, brown [and] dark reds. That’s honestly my favorite fall sweater right now.”
Sweaters are a staple during the fall. However, as the weather starts to turn colder, other types of outerwear also become popular for layering up and staying warm.
“I really like all my fall jackets,” Art of Fashion teacher Samantha Sparks said. “ I have been into the camo jacket recently and think the army green color feels fall-y.”
Another recent trend for this season is the shift from the traditional fall color palette. Typically, wardrobes during this time feature reds and oranges; this year, however, cooler colors are being increasingly incorporated into many people’s outfits.
“[I’ve seen a lot of] green, blue, black,” sophomore Aaron Calaycay. “I’ve been wearing green [frequently].”
However, others lean towards the overarching color trends for 2025, such as mocha brown and cherry reds.
“I’ve seen a lot of brown already, and I think dark red [is pretty popular],” Bhakta said.
Many students emphasized the importance of shoes in completing an outfit and stated that the fall season is a great time to incorporate boots and shoes with bigger, chunkier silhouettes into an everyday look.
“I love bringing out all the Doc Martens for fall,” Sparks said. “They are great shoes for the fall weather, and look great with jeans, dresses, etc.”
Along with changes in color palette, the shift in seasons also allows fashion suited for colder weather to shine.
“Long sleeves with long pants, like jeans, balance out the full look,” junior Sofia Roa said. “It completes the fall [vibe].”
Another practical tip for the colder weather is helpful in staying warm and cozy.
“UNIQLO’s Heat Tech is my favorite thing to put underneath things to stay warm while not adding bulk to the fit,” Sparks said.
Finally, small details and adjustments can enhance a look, and there are numerous helpful tips on how to achieve this.
“Try to match your top with your shoes,” Roa said. “It makes [the outfit] come together.”
A small but crucial component that can embellish or tie a look together is eyewear. While it may be a small addition, an accessory can help accentuate one’s facial features and outfit, especially if they match minor details like jewelry or the buttons on a jacket.
“Glasses are very fall, like the thick frames [in] clear or brown [colored frames],” Roa said.
The trends mentioned are going to be very big in the fall wardrobe for the next few months. From experienced fashionistas to someone who wants to just spice up their wardrobe, anyone can definitely try and pull off some of these suggestions for this season.
